ProPoc Version 2.4x - Release Notes
                ==================================

Program Description
-------------------

ProPoc is a project planner.
It can handle multiple projects, activities, milestones, and resources.

Activities and milestones can depend on the completion of other
activities. Activities can share resources, even between
different projects.

ProPoc determines the StartDate and EndDate of each activity,
the ActualDate of each Milestone, the number of slack days,
and if a activity or milestone is critical.

The results are displayed in graphical or table form on screen or
can be printed in ASCII- or WORD-form (tables). The Professional version
allows output to SPREADSHEET and AGENDA, too.

For a detailed comparison between PROPOC V2 LITE and PROPOC V2 PROF
see FEATURES.TXT .

Platforms
---------

ProPoc LITE runs on PSION S3/S3a/S3c/Siena and Acorn PocketBook I & II.

ProPoc PROF runs only on S3a/S3c and Acorn Pocket Book II.

ProPoc can also run on the S3a-emulator where it can use
screen sizes up to 640x400.

( Set SERVER_PARAMS -X640 -Y400 -D in HCSERVER.PAR for the big screen)

Requirements
------------

ProPoc LITE:
The disk space requirements are 102-160k depending
on the options.

ProPoc PROF:
The disk space requirements are 156-292k depending
on the options.

When active, the system requires a minimum of about 40k main memory.
Some functions can require considerable more memory.

We recommend to install the system on flash SSD,
the PROJ folder (data drive) on the internal disk or on RAM SSD.

New in Version 2.43
-------------------
- One dialogue step less in the Unlink function, if there is only one prerequisite.
- Gantt mode now supports a split screen (resource schedule and cashflow analysis).
- The resource summary in project statistics is now shown as scrollable report box.
Use PSION-H to view a detailed resource schedule.
- Print function: A new format "custom report" prints project in task data
in report style, but controlled by the table definition.
- Preferences, Table Definition: There is now a copy function for tables, for instance
copy screen table to WORD table.
Some more attributes were added. Attributes in parenthesis apply only
to custom reports but not to tables.

- German version: Hotkeys PSION-Shift-A, PSION-Shift-K, and PSION-Shift-G swapped.

New in Version 2.41
-------------------
- Cosmetic changes to HTML-export

New in Version 2.40
-------------------
- The condensed screen mode has been replaced GANTT mode.
GANTT mode is also supported by both bitmap and semigraphical
  diagram printing.

- (PROF) The hotkey for Agenda call has been changed
from PSION-Shift-G to PSION-Shift-C (English version).

- In inconsistency in the user interface has been removed:
Subdialogues (for instance in "Edit task")
are now always invoked with the TAB key (instead of Enter).

- Variable scaling is possible in both normal and GANTT mode.
Press "+" or "-" to stretch/shrink in horizontal direction
(this works on top of the Zoom function).

- (PROF) Resource schedules (task lists) can now be exported (Save as)
as an Agenda file. This will always create a new Agenda file
with the entries stored in a ToDo-List (named with the resource name).
Style and alarm settings are taken from the settings in
  Preferences|Alarm/Agenda and the project definitions.
You can merge this file into your main Agenda file by using the
  AGENDA's merge function.

- Printing functions to printer, text file and WORD file have
  been revised.
(PROF) The standard headers and footers can be customized
  (second screen after printer setup).
The usual variables can be used in header and footer
    %F file name
    %P page number
    %D date
    %T time
    %% single % character
When printing to WORD file, headers and footers go into the
  WORD headers and footers.
The same variables can be used in headers and footers for
HTML-output (page number is replaced by page name).

- (PROF) Project and task descriptions can now be optionally exported
to spreadsheet and HTML, when using "Save as" from a report box.

- (PROF) A new option for HTML-Export allows to inhibit the output
  of costs and budgets.

- (PROF) Output to HTML is now controlled by a template file which
can be customized by the user (see HTML.TXT for details).

- (PROF) It is now possible to use master files with a larger time base.
For instance a day based file can be used as a master file
  for a minute based file.

- (PROF) ProPoc is now more tolerant against time axis overflows, which
can happen when the time base was set to hours or minutes.

If a resource caused the overflow, ProPoc will indicate which
resource caused the problem. You should then review the
resource workload and resource calendar to remedy the problem.

Otherwise ProPoc switches to table mode, and you should
delete or shorten tasks, until the problem vanishes.

- significant performance improvements for table display.

- ProPoc now skips unnecessary screen redraw operations.
(For instance during quick sequences of cursor keys, diamond key, + or -).
  This allows faster navigation.

- (LITE) ProPoc LITE now supports PSION Siena.
Because of screen size some menu function titles are abbreviated.

- ProPoc accepts no longer project files from ProPoc V1.

New in Version 2.33
-------------------
- (Prof) New menu function "Split" splits task into two and links the parts.

New in Version 2.32
-------------------
- (Prof) When jumping to the Agenda you can now force ProPoc to
update the Agenda entries first, provided project data has changed.
It is now possible to perform Agenda jumps on items that have not
been exported to the agenda. ProPoc will use the start date of the item, then.

- (Prof) The Year symbol is not longer used to identify a project file in the Agenda.
Instead, a new file ID is used (default value = file name).
Optionally an S3c-entry code can be defined. On S3a this is used as year symbol.

- (Prof) All changes to alarm preferences (style, sound, alarm time, prewarn time, entry code)
are now carried through to existing agenda entries.

New in Version 2.30
-------------------
- A new report type in the resource schedule:
Cost: lists the resource cost per task (in outline mode per project).
to allow for better cost/resource tracking.
As other reports, this report can be printed or exported to spreadsheet, too.

- Resource schedule lists now show which tasks are critical or completed.
critical: bold, completed: strike through, absent: italic.

- (PROF) Export to HTML
An optional module allows to create HTML documents containing descriptions
of projects, tasks, and resource. These files can be viewed on PC, Mac, or UNIX
with HTML-Browsers, or can be published to World-Wide-Web or intranets.

To output to HTML, invoke the "Save as" function and select HTML.
Then select the output directory and options. ProPoc will do the rest.

- the active filters (show, but only) are now applied to print-outs, too.

New in Version 2.25
-------------------
- Task duration
The duration can now be entered as a formula. Or press ENTER on the duration line
to specify the duration as a from-to interval. Note, that the entered interval is
only a convenient way to specify the number of workdays and has nothing to do with
  task start and end dates.
- Enter resource workloads as formulae
  Enter expressions such as
3/16% (3 days of 16) to compute the percent value of resource workloads.
- New option in Preferences, View
The new option controls cueing, the display of task attributes as the cursor
is moved. You can now choose to display the task type, the task description
  or nothing.

New in Version 2.20
-------------------
- Automatic link proposal
When switched on (Preferences-Mode) and the cursor is placed on an elementary
task and you insert a new elementary task, ProPoc will automatically propose a
link to the task at the cursor position. This is to allow speedy definition of
  task sequences.

- In table mode items can now be sorted along various attributs in descending
or ascending direction. To define the sort criterion, go to Preferencec-Define Table.
Differing sort criteria are possible for different tables (Screen, Printer, Text, Word)
and are saved and loaded with table styles.

- Resource calendar entries can now describe part time week patterns. To create an
entry with a week pattern, insert a new entry, select "Part time = yes". In the
following screen define the week pattern.

New in Version 2.15
-------------------
- New Agenda link provides seamless integration with Agenda.
All Agenda entries created by ProPoc are now hotlinked with
  the corresponding ProPoc tasks:
Press PSION-Shift-G to jump to the Agenda.
  And in the opposite direction:
While in the Agenda press an application button assigned
to ProPoc to jump to the corresponding ProPoc task.

The layout of Agenda entries has changed. You can now define separate
sets of attributes to critical and uncritical tasks. These attributes
will be updated in the Agenda when the project changes and tasks become
critical or are no longer critical.

  !!! Note !!!
Because of the changed layout, Agenda entries from older ProPoc
versions are not longer recognised. This can result in duplicate
  entries.

- The PSION-TAB key combination to call HyperPoc has been replaced
  by the menu function PSION-Shift-Y.
To return from HyperPoc to ProPoc press Shift-System or the
  application button assigned to ProPoc.

New in version 2.10
-------------------

- Table styles (Preferences)
Load/save current the table setup from/to file.
A table style includes all table definitions
  (Screen/Printer/Textfile/Wordfile in Outline/Detail mode),
the table font, and all filter settings (PROF).
Table style files are stored in the same directory
as the project files and have the extension .PRS.
Table style files can be used and reused from any
  project file.

  Example table styles:
Normal.prs Normal setting (to reset tables)
   Finance.prs financial overview
Crit.prs overview about critical tasks (PROF)

- Summary tasks (PROF)
Create a summary task with the insert function.
To create a new task within the summary task place
the cursor on the summary task or on a task within the
summary task and use the insert function.

To move a task into a summary task, use the Link function.
Place the cursor on the task you want to move, invoke the
Link function and navigate to the target summary task.
Then press ENTER. ProPoc will automatically update WBS numbers.

To move a task out of any summary task, use the Unlink function.

You can nest summary tasks. There is not really a limit
to the depth of nesting, but we suggest to use not more
  than 5 levels.

You can restrict the displayed level of detail for
each display mode separately (Preferences, View, Show parameter).

Warning: If you delete a summary task, only the summary
task will be saved into the clipboard, not its contents!

New in version 2.04
-------------------

- New printing options
  - Landscape format supported on some printers
  - Number of copies can be specified
  - collated/uncollated on some printers
  - detection of printer time out (out of paper, etc.)

- MPX-support for German version of MS Project added (PROF).
This module is in beta status. Comments and help welcome.

MPX-export indicates now code page 850 for correct
code translation by the importing application.
MPX-import will now translate ANSI-code (WINDOWS) into
  code page 850 (PSION).

- We have dropped the requirement that task names must be
unique through the whole file. Now task names must only
be unique within the same project.
This has consequences for attached documents. Documents
are identified by the task name. This allows you to
use the same document for different, but identical
   named tasks.
However, you can force documents to be identified
with a unique task ID by including a special character
(other than letter, numeric digit, or underscore)
   into the task name.
