SlideSho is a very simple, straightforward program that allows the user
of a Psion Series 3a to look at pictures saved in PIC format in an
automated fashion.

Current Version
---------------
v1.3 as of 07 JAN 96

Installation
------------
The files in this archive should be:
 SLIDESHO.OPA the application
 SLIDESHO.TXT this file

(the example files are actually screen shots. You can have them with the
key combination Psion-Shift-Ctrl-S.
You will then find a file named M:\SCREEN.PIC)

Installation is very simple:

 1. Copy the application, "SLIDESHO.OPA", to any \APP directory.
 2. Install the application from the system Menu (Psion-I)

A projection screen Icon should now be visible on your system screen.

Usage
-----

When starting SLIDESHO, a background screen reminds of the keys to be
used for selecting files (valid in any standard Psion dialog).

* First use

The first time, a 'SELECT FILE' dialog becomes visible to enable the
user to choose the files he/she wants to see. Select the appropriate
directory, then press ENTER to view a list of files (you can also press
ENTER directly and select your screen later).

To select the desired files, use these keys:

[+] to select the file under the cursor
   [-] to deselect it
[*] to select ALL files in the current directory
[/] to deselect ALL files in the current directory

Only one directory can be selected at a time.

When your selection is done, press ENTER to go back to the previous
dialog, then again to proceed.

At this point, if you pressed ESC or selected no files, the program
stops.

The second dialog is used to set some viewing options:

Show : either 'ONCE' (the show stops after all files have been viewed)
or 'CONTINUOUSLY' (the show repeats without end)
Time : number of seconds during which a file will stay displayed.
If you use 0, you will have to change slides manually.

The show then begins, according to the options you have selected.
These keys are active during the show:

HELP : calls a small help screen ; press any key to clear.
TAB : pauses the show (press any key to resume, ESC to end).
L : Displays the list of selected files
ESC : ends the show and the program.

Any other key steps to the next slide.

When the program stops, the selection of files and the options for
viewing are saved.

* Next uses

When the program starts, it will detect if the file containing the last
selection is available. In that case, the first dialog will enable
either to use this selection (press ENTER) or select another one (press
ESC).

If you choose to view the same selection, the program then checks if the
files are still available (for instance, they could be on an SSD which
has been removed, or one or several files might have been deleted).

- If it finds none of the files, a warning will be displayed and the
  program will stop.
- If it finds some of the files, another warning is displayed but the
viewing of the available files starts thereafter.

In those two cases, the selection is left intact. If you want to change
it, you need to restart the program and select "New selection".

Misbehavior
-----------

I have tried to test the program as thoroughly as possible. The only
(intended) error that might happen is if there is not enough memory to
display the images, in which case a warning will appear and the program
will stop. In that case, close one or more apps (for instance, the
agenda file).

Other than that, SLIDESHO is a very simple program. There should be no
risk to your Psion or its files, however I cannot accept responsibility
for any kind of loss or damage resulting from the use of your program.
Use at your own risk !

This program is released as freeware. I wanted it simple and it should
stay so. However if there is sufficient interest in any kind of
improvement I might work on it.

History
-------
v1.3 Selection of files and check routines implemented.
       (suggested by Dr Friedrich Anzenberger)
v1.2 (not released) correction of a small bug that did not clear the
       screen correctly between slides.
v1.1 First released version of SLIDESHO
 v1.0 I'm allergic to versions 1.0. I would never ever release one ! <G>
